As a huge metal fan myself, I was more than intrigued when I first heard the name of this product. But even more than that, as a lifelong audiophile and headphone enthusiast, I knew I had to give them a try. You might be thinking, "Wait, aren’t you a classical musician? Why are you reviewing a product associated with heavy metal?" Trust me – whether it’s heavy metal, jazz, or classical music, these headphones are first-class in every sense.
Let me put it this way: imagine the highest-quality studio headphones, but without the hassle of cables and the restriction of being tied to a studio setup. Yes, you heard that right – these headphones can be used with a cable, but they are specially designed for Bluetooth, offering the same level of isolation and studio-quality sound. Even on the noisiest street, you’ll hear every nuance, from the most intimate piano passage to the grandest orchestral textures.
In this review, I'll discuss both the positives and some potentially annoying aspects of this device, as well as how it compares to other similar products.
A Quick Note
Although I am a professional concert pianist, I write all product reviews based solely on my personal experience as a user. I don't write as an influencer, a salesperson, or a technical expert. Consider this review as if a friend or neighbor were sharing their honest opinion without any vested interest in whether you buy the product or not.
From the moment these headphones arrived, they became an essential part of my life. I always have a pair of headphones nearby, but ever since I got my Heavys, they are always my first choice. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever need a higher level of headphones. I own some seriously professional studio models, but all the extra equipment and setup can be overwhelming – especially when I just want to take a walk and enjoy my music.
Over time, I started paying more attention to both sound quality and volume. As a kid, I attended a lot of big concerts – Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath – and I loved loud music. However, even though I still listen to heavier music alongside my daily dose of classical music, I now prefer to avoid extremely loud concerts or simply stick to classical performances.
This made me realize just how important high-quality headphones really are.
Some might argue that the price isn’t low – and yes, compared to standard headphones you find in stores, the cost is significant. But the quality is on a completely different level. These headphones are worth every cent. I always like to point out that, nowadays, every smartphone costs at least two or three times more than these headphones – yet, in many cases, phones last only half as long. I’ve also met many audiophiles who aren’t even professional musicians, and I’ve realized that once someone starts truly exploring sound, they’re willing to invest a lot more.
Bluetooth connectivity – A rare feature for headphones of this size and quality; most high-end manufacturers avoid Bluetooth or offer it only occasionally.
Crystal-clear sound – Every detail is audible, no matter the genre.
Usability & easy pairing – Everything is within reach, including a small volume control dial on the right earcup.
Built-in microphone – Great for Bluetooth headphones, though not completely flawless.
Battery life – It genuinely lasts 50 days. I go weeks without charging, even with hours of daily use.
Price (~€325) – Not the most accessible option for everyone.
Bulky design – The large ear cups can feel a bit overwhelming when worn around the neck for long periods.
Portability – Difficult to carry around unless you have a bag with you.
Noise isolation – The sound is so immersive that walking down the street with both earcups on can be risky.
Folding mechanism – I’ve accidentally pinched my finger a few times while folding them – not a big issue, but as a pianist, that’s something I need to be careful about!
Whether you’re looking for professional-quality headphones for a home studio or simply want to enjoy your favorite music on another level, you don’t need to look any further. These headphones are perfect for any genre – despite their metal-inspired name!
